The Syrian state TV says a bomb has struck the Marja district of the capital, Damascus.
The bombing was followed by random shootings in the capital on Saturday.
In addition, three small explosions were also reported in Damascus, but there have been no reports of casualties.
Meanwhile, Syrian security forces cleared the Ariha district in the northwestern city of Idlib of foreign-sponsored insurgents.
On April 30, at least 20 people were killed and scores of others injured in two bomb attacks in Idlib.
Also on Saturday, the Syrian troops killed a large number of the insurgents in the northwestern city of Aleppo.
The Syrian army says its forces have also taken control of a large part of the central neighborhood of Bab al-Hadid in Aleppo.
On Sunday, the Arab League foreign ministers will meet in Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah to discuss the situation in Syria.
Arab League Deputy Secretary General Ahmed Ben Helli said the meeting will discuss the “latest developments in Syria and what policy action to take” after Kofi Annan announced on August 2 that he will resign as the UN-Arab League special envoy to Syria at the end of the month.
Many people, including large numbers of security forces, have been killed in the turmoil that began in Syria in March 2011.
