Iranian karatekas have taken home a gold medal in the men’s kata category of the 11th Asian Karatedo Federation (AKF) Senior Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
National Iranian kata team, comprising Ahad Shahin, Armin Roshani and Farzad Mohammadkhanlou, knocked out the Indian squad 5-0 in their first match on Tuesday.
The Iranians routed their Kuwaiti opponents 4-1 in the second match before they beat Malaysians 4-1 in the semi-final round.
They overwhelmed the Indonesian team in the final match and won the gold medal in the men’s kata class.
The 11th AKF Senior Championship kicked off in the Uzbek capital on July 16, and will wrap up on July 17.
The tournament has brought 254 athletes from 26 nations together, according to Iran’s Karate Federation. More to read on: www.presstv.ir
